A Volusion Case Study
Tower Paddle Boards, founded in 2010 after its CEO discovered stand-up paddle boarding, sells affordable, direct-to-consumer SUPs and grew from $3,000 in annual revenue to a multi-million-dollar company while maintaining a five-hour workday. Early challenges included financing, inventory management, building a team, and standing out in a crowded market where customers face too many choices.
The company used a DTC model on Volusion’s SEO-friendly platform, an aggressive content and inbound-link strategy amplified by Shark Tank press (and Mark Cuban’s investment and credit line), plus focused social media and an online Tower Magazine. Those efforts accelerated SEO gains by years, built a large audience (30K+ social fans and 50K magazine subscribers), allowed Tower to pass savings to customers, and drove the rapid revenue and scale they enjoy today.
