So Others Might Eat - Customer Case Study

So Others Might Eat (SOME) is a community-based nonprofit serving the poor and homeless in Washington, D.C., and it relies on more than 10,000 volunteers each year. As its volunteer program grew, SOME needed a better way to capture volunteers’ skills and interests, communicate with specific groups, and manage group reservations and attendance without overwhelming a very small staff. VolunteerHub, using its User Groups feature, helped solve these coordination challenges.

With VolunteerHub, SOME created targeted user groups, used Custom Landing Pages for group sign-ups, and streamlined no-show tracking and accountability. The result was more efficient outreach, fewer mass emails, easier group management, and about eight times as many active volunteers from groups as before. VolunteerHub also helped reduce no-shows and improve sign-in procedures, unlocking more of the organization’s untapped volunteer capacity.
