A VolunteerHub Case Study
Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA) is a Philadelphia nonprofit that prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to people with serious illness, relying on roughly 6,500 volunteers a year (54,000 hours) to provide 90% of daily kitchen production. MANNA had been using a donor-focused CRM that lacked volunteer-specific tools—no standardized event or shift registration and limited ways to engage volunteers—making it difficult to predict staffing needs and communicate consistently.
After evaluating solutions, MANNA implemented VolunteerHub to enable self-registration, real-time shift tracking, automated communications, and closer donor–volunteer integration. The platform increased transparency and volunteer engagement, helped drive higher volunteer donations, and paid for itself within three months while improving overall program efficiency.
