Fleet Feet reaches 5 million foot scans with Volumental

Fleet Feet, a specialty footwear retailer, sought to gain a better understanding of its customers' foot measurements to improve its fitting process. The company turned to vendor Volumental and implemented its 3D foot scanner technology across its entire retail store network.

The solution, known as Fit ID, involved installing Volumental's scanners to capture precise biometric data from shoppers. This allowed Fleet Feet to match the right shoe style and size to each individual. The implementation led to the collection of over five million foot scans, providing data-driven insights that improved product recommendations and customer loyalty. The Volumental technology was later enhanced with dynamic pressure mapping to further personalize the experience, particularly for insole sales.
