Mahindra Comviva Implements Real-Time Telecommunications Personalization with Fast Data

Mahindra Comviva, a provider of real-time contextual marketing and managed services for mobile operators, needed to overcome legacy batch-based systems that introduced latency and prevented in-the-moment customer engagement. To deliver true Customer Value Management with sub-second interactions, Mahindra Comviva selected VoltDB’s in-memory scale-out SQL database as the core of its ERED (Real-time Event Decisioning) platform.

By implementing a Lambda real-time architecture with VoltDB, Mahindra Comviva achieved a 3 ms ingest-analyze-decide path and can deliver personalized offers to subscribers in under 250 ms. In proof-of-concept tests ingesting 1.5 billion daily records, real-time offers proved 1.5–2.5× more effective than near real-time: data-bundle interventions reduced out-of-bundle usage by 5.2× and increased bundle sales 50%, while Airtime Advance adoption rose 157% and purchases were 253% higher — with a projected incremental $30K/month from scaling the airtime use case.
