FlowMSP, an industry-leading pre-incident planning software provider for fire services, identified a significant challenge in the adjacent water services market. The market was unprocessed, relying on paper-based systems prone to error and lacking a unified database or common workflows for managing tens of thousands of infrastructure assets. To validate their vision for this new market with limited time and budget, FlowMSP partnered with vendor Volpis to develop a minimum viable product (MVP).

Volpis addressed this by first conducting a discovery phase to hone the product vision through business analysis and user testing. They then designed and developed a modern mobile app for iOS and Android, alongside a high-performance backend. The solution featured a sophisticated map view for asset management with clusterization and filters, an in-built calculator for hydrant capacity, and digital maintenance checklists. This allowed Volpis to successfully deliver the FlowMSP Water platform, enabling real-time mapping, tracking, and maintenance of water infrastructure assets.
