Tesla expands Fremont production with VOLO in 11 days

Tesla needed to rapidly expand production capacity for its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles at its Fremont factory but was constrained by space limitations, an active worksite, and complex geotechnical challenges. VOLO Events Agency was selected to design and install custom tension fabric structures to solve this challenge, as they were the only bidder willing to assume full accountability for the entire project.

VOLO designed, fabricated, and installed two steel-framed tension fabric structures spanning 1,380 linear feet in just 11 days. The solution utilized a helical pier foundation system for stability and was completed without disrupting Tesla's 24/7 operations. This rapid deployment of over 140,000 square feet of operational space allowed Tesla to immediately begin installing equipment, accelerating its manufacturing timeline to meet record demand.
