New York City Parks installs a 3,047-sq-ft geodesic dome with VOLO Events Agency in 48 hours

New York City Parks, in conjunction with the Old Seaport Alliance and artist Josh Levine, faced the challenge of installing a large geodesic dome as the centerpiece of the "Dusk Space" public art exhibit on a very tight timeline and with minimal environmental impact to the busy Peck Slip Park location. They selected VOLO Events Agency to design and install the structure.

VOLO Events Agency fabricated and installed a custom 31-foot high geodesic dome with a 62-foot diameter footprint over a 48-hour period. The solution included a padded Astroturf base to realize the artist's vision of a serene country field at dusk. The result was a critically acclaimed exhibit that was the first public art installation in Peck Slip Park and was greatly enjoyed by city residents. VOLO met and exceeded the City of New York's high standards by providing a comprehensive service package that included design, engineering, permits, and specialized installation.
