A Volante Technologies Case Study
Major Stock Exchange Group, a major stock exchange organization, needed a new enterprise architecture to keep up with changing market structure, regulatory pressure, and competition from multiple execution venues. With around 30 legacy systems built over time in different formats and no common data definition, the exchange struggled with interoperability across trading, market data, post-trade, risk, compliance, and accounting functions. It turned to Volante Technologies and its Volante Designer product to address the message-based integration challenge.
Volante Technologies implemented a standardized message transformation and integration architecture, using Volante Designer to build gateways between legacy systems and a new enterprise service bus backbone. The project was completed in about 18 months, cutting effort from an estimated 60 man months in-house to 12 man months for message mapping plus six months of Volante support, while also reducing operational risk, improving flexibility, and future-proofing the exchange’s data architecture. The solution now processes more than 800 million messages a day, with peaks above 1 billion, and improved message transformation latency by up to 20 times.
