Guinness and Linux POS a Winning Combo at Gabby’s

Gabby’s is a Toronto-based casual dining and sports-bar chain founded in 1989 that serves over 27,000 customers weekly across corporate and franchise locations, offering table service, takeout, delivery and catering. Rapid growth had left the chain operating multiple, unreliable POS systems and spending excessive manager time on back-office tasks, so leadership sought a single, locally supported solution that would improve reliability, control costs and enable new revenue-driving initiatives.

Gabby’s implemented Volanté POS—reusing existing hardware and gaining a Linux-based, locally supported platform with HR, marketing, financials and customer-management features plus integrations for kitchen and F&B systems. The rollout cut end-of-day processing from more than an hour to about 20 minutes, unlocked data-driven campaigns and mobile marketing pilots (coupons and dining habit tracking), returned back-of-house work to corporate systems and produced new reports that improved operational efficiency, profitability and guest service.
