Spillsure readies "globally unique" solution for domestic oil efficiency

Spillsure Solutions, working with Vodafone Global Enterprise, wanted to replace the old bamboo dipstick method used by domestic oil households to measure tank levels. The company needed a reliable M2M connectivity solution for its ultra-sonic monitors so it could deliver real-time oil-level data from remote homes and support future expansion.

Vodafone Global Enterprise supplied Vodafone M2M SIMs to connect the tank monitors to a modem and web platform, enabling daily updates, low-level alerts, and online price comparison and ordering. The pilot sites showed annual fuel savings of around 15–20%, with one 3,000-litre delivery saving £432 versus emergency top-up pricing, while the system also helped users plan purchases, improve efficiency, and support oil suppliers with better demand forecasting.
