BBOXX ensures reliable energy for remote communities worldwide using Vodafone IoT

BBOXX, a global solar energy company serving remote communities, needed a way to manage off-grid power systems centrally as it expanded from a village pilot into a multinational business. The challenge was to provide reliable electricity in areas without grid access while maintaining connectivity for monitoring, updates, and payment management.

Vodafone Global Enterprise provided managed IoT connectivity for BBOXX’s smart solar power generators, enabling remote monitoring, firmware updates, fault checks, and shutoff for missed payments from a single global platform. The solution allowed units to be activated in under an hour and deployed quickly across more than 12 countries, with 5,000 units already installed, 6,000 in production, and 8,000 on order, supporting BBOXX’s goal of reaching 100,000 units in market by the end of 2016.
