AntTail delivers more effective medicine, with Vodafone IoT

AntTail, a Dutch monitoring services provider for the pharmaceutical industry, faced a significant challenge with the "last mile" of the medicine supply chain. Up to one third of temperature-sensitive medication was being corrupted due to poor storage by patients after leaving the pharmacy, rendering it ineffective. AntTail needed a robust, scalable IoT connectivity solution to monitor this part of the journey. Vodafone Global Enterprise provided its Managed IoT Connectivity Platform to address this challenge.

The Vodafone solution provided the global coverage and price consistency AntTail required for its European rollout. Using Vodafone's SIMs and platform, AntTail attached sensors to medicine packaging to monitor temperature and send alerts, enabling pharmacists to intervene if needed. Initial trials with 100 patients and over 700 shipments showed dramatic improvement, increasing correct storage rates from 10% to 90%. This success led to plans for deploying thousands more SIMs across Europe.
