A VMware Case Study
Xavier University of Louisiana, a historically Black Catholic university serving over 3,000 students, was facing an expiring leased data center and a small IT team stretched thin by frequent hurricane-driven recoveries, time-consuming manual updates, shadow IT and data security vulnerabilities. The university needed a more automated, cloud-first approach to improve disaster recovery, reduce refresh cycles and relieve operational strain on its two-person IT department.
With help from RoundTower Technologies, Xavier implemented VMware Cloud Foundation to deliver software-defined compute, storage, networking, security and cloud management. The campus migrated in three weeks, consolidated five racks down to a half rack (about a 90% footprint reduction), and gained automated lifecycle management, stronger security and improved disaster recovery—freeing staff to focus on strategic IT services while lowering costs and speeding deployments.
