Bharat Biotech, a Hyderabad-based biopharmaceutical and vaccine innovator, needed to modernize its legacy datacentre to support growing research, manufacturing and production demands. Key challenges included ensuring high availability and redundancy for business‑critical applications, reducing total cost of ownership, enabling a fast SAP HANA go‑live, and avoiding hardware lock‑in.

Bharat Biotech deployed a VMware software‑defined datacentre stack (vSphere Enterprise Plus, vCenter, vSAN and vRealize) to consolidate compute and storage, provide built‑in redundancy, and centralize management. The move enabled migration of critical production apps and a non‑production SAP HANA environment to vSAN in 1–2 weeks, accelerated go‑live timelines, delivered scalable, hardware‑independent deployments, and offered single‑pane operational insights for health, risk and efficiency.
