Case Study: DCB Bank achieves 80% faster disaster recovery and 6‑week‑to‑6‑hour provisioning with VMware solutions

A VMware Case Study

Preview of the DCB Bank Case Study

Virtualization, automation and disaster recovery solutions helped DCB Bank reduce provisioning times, use resources better and save costs

DCB Bank, a Mumbai‑headquartered private sector bank with 323 branches across 19 states and 3 union territories and roughly 600,000 customers, faced an IT bottleneck: a legacy, physical-server environment that was underutilized, costly to maintain, required manual disaster‑recovery processes, and slowed provisioning of new services (up to 6 weeks), risking time‑to‑market as the bank expanded.

VMware implemented vSphere, vRealize Operations and Site Recovery Manager to consolidate servers onto a virtualized platform (down to about 34 hosts), automate data synchronization between datacenter and DR, and provide unified operations and capacity planning. The result: provisioning time fell to 6 hours, RPO/RTO improved by 80%, refresh costs dropped ~60%, and the bank achieved better resource utilization, lower power and space requirements, and faster, automated disaster recovery.
