A VMware Case Study
United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) is a member-owned financial cooperative serving about 32,000 members—including U.S. senators—and managing over $800 million in assets. Faced with aging physical servers, rising member expectations for mobile and online banking, and a small IT team, USSFCU needed to modernize its infrastructure to scale services, strengthen application and network security, and accelerate new product delivery without adding headcount.
Over a four-year transformation the credit union built a private cloud on Dell hardware using VMware vSphere Platinum, vSAN (including ROBO for branches), AppDefense, NSX, Horizon and Workspace ONE, managed with vRealize tools. The hyperconverged solution cut branch support costs by 66%, reduced end‑user computing costs to about one‑third of traditional PCs, improved security and operational agility, enabled faster application delivery and remote work, and maintained high customer service levels without expanding the IT team.
