A VMware Case Study
Suzhou Gas Group is a large state-owned energy company serving about 400,000 users in Jiangsu Province and aiming to exceed 1,000,000 customers as it expands regionally. Its legacy, siloed IT — a single data center with limited virtualization, poor disaster-recovery capabilities and no multi-tenant or self-service cloud features — could not scale fast enough to meet growing demand or ensure business continuity and security.
Suzhou Gas implemented VMware Cloud Foundation to build a software-defined data center, migrate core applications, and enable cross-data-center disaster recovery and active‑active operation, with NSX, vSphere and vSAN underpinning the platform. The result: SDDC deployments now take hours, IT resource consolidation improved by over 80%, network security and scalability increased, O&M costs fell, and the company gained a scalable, resilient cloud foundation to support rapid regional expansion and better business continuity.
