Rethinking the Retail Experience a Historic Retailer Becomes the Store of the Future

Brooks Brothers, a historic U.S. retailer with nearly 500 stores and a global corporate footprint, faced growing network strain from a complex mix of MPLS, T1/DSL links and regional data centers. Bandwidth limits, frequent outages and backhauled traffic were slowing transactions and online browsing, and a small six-person IT team needed a simpler, more reliable infrastructure to support future growth.

The company deployed VMware NSX SD‑WAN by VeloCloud—starting with a successful pilot and then rolling out preconfigured Edges, cloud gateways and LTE backups across stores and offices. The solution delivered sub‑second failover, direct internet breakout for fast in‑store browsing, faster store onboarding, centralized visibility and the ability to migrate to VoIP without additional phone switches, resulting in higher uptime, better performance and simpler operations.
