Polypore, towards a single management of its data centers

Polypore, a global manufacturer of battery separators with 25 sites and 21 factories, faced aging hardware, frequent server incidents and limited flexibility across its three data centers. The IT team needed a single, automated administration model with robust disaster recovery and large-scale replication to avoid production stoppages and speed up VM provisioning.

Polypore deployed a VMware hyperconverged private cloud (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vRealize Suite and Site Recovery Manager), completing migration in three months. The result: centralized management, no hosting interruptions since December 2017, 15–20% faster storage performance, server provisioning cut from two days to four hours, improved reliability, visibility and security, and an extendable model now being used across parent company sites.
