Navisite, a global provider of managed cloud and hosting services, faced growing customer demand for API access, faster provisioning, simpler networking and more self‑service features in its Proximity portal. The company needed to reduce network complexity, accelerate delivery from days to minutes, and improve security and automation across its IaaS platform.

Navisite deployed VMware vCloud Director and VMware NSX, integrated vCloud Director’s APIs into its Proximity interface, and exposed native API access to customers. The move avoided about $3 million in custom development, cut provisioning from one–two days to minutes, halved platform support requirements, and reduced time spent on basic security through built‑in SDN and platform capabilities.
