A VMware Case Study
Ayeyarwady Bank (AYA Bank), founded in 2010, is Myanmar’s fastest-growing bank with over 1.4 million customers, 230+ branches and 8,300 employees. Rapid expansion and high volumes of customer and financial data created a need to roll out new products faster, reduce hardware investment, and free IT talent from routine maintenance so the bank could focus on innovation and financial inclusion in an underbanked market.
AYA Bank deployed VMware vSphere and NSX to virtualize compute and networking, turning its data center into a software-defined environment. The bank now runs 500+ virtual machines on 27 hosts, saving several million dollars in hardware, cutting IT maintenance to a small team of administrators, accelerating product launches (internet/mobile banking and local and Visa credit cards), and strengthening data security with network micro-segmentation—creating a scalable foundation for future initiatives and compliance.
