Informatics Academy Modernizes Existing it Infrastructure to Facilitate Better Collaboration Across Global Campuses

Informatics Academy, a Singapore‑based higher‑education institute with campuses and partnerships in the UK, faced aging physical servers and a failed prior cloud migration. The school wanted to reduce CAPEX by moving to an OPEX model, enable secure remote access for its UK team, and lacked in‑house expertise to identify and manage a suitable virtual infrastructure.

Working with partner Infofabrica, Informatics migrated to IBM SoftLayer and virtualized compute and networking with VMware vSphere and NSX, using micro‑segmentation and IPSec VPN to secure campus connections. The move delivered up to 30% projected savings over five years, reduced support staff from three engineers to one, improved security and availability, and enabled better real‑time collaboration, resource sharing and plans for virtual classrooms and VDI.
