Hyper-Convergent Infrastructure for High-Performance VDI Services

InfoCamere, the technology arm of Italy’s chambers of commerce based in Padua, needed to improve Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) performance for about 600 users while keeping management costs and IT workload under control. Growing demand and heavier resource use had strained storage and threatened service quality, but a standard hardware-only upgrade would have raised costs and administrative burden.

InfoCamere implemented a VMware hyper-converged architecture with vSAN on Fujitsu servers, enabling a rapid two-day deployment and a two-week migration of 600 desktops. The new platform delivered near-physical workstation performance, reduced hardware TCO, cut power and space usage, and greatly simplified operations—VDI management is now centralized and can be handled by a single technician.
