Hive, the UK’s leading smart‑home provider (owned by Centrica) with about one million customers, set out to become the central hub for connected‑home services and expand internationally. To do that it needed to monitor a complex, rapidly changing cloud and sensor ecosystem, speed time‑to‑market for new services, quickly detect and resolve issues, and ensure as‑a‑service scalability while empowering development teams.
Hive deployed Wavefront by VMware, ingesting more than 100,000 data points per second to provide real‑time dashboards, automated anomaly detection, targeted alerts and service‑level scaling. The result was improved observability that closed the feedback loop for developers, accelerated launches and upgrades, optimized AWS usage, and reduced monthly cloud spend by 25% while supporting planned growth and international expansion.
