IHS Markit, a global provider of information, analytics and solutions formed by a 2016 merger, needed to unify two separate IT environments to support thousands of developers, nine data centers and billions of gigabytes of data while meeting strict compliance requirements. The company’s goals were to create a software‑defined, frictionless IT platform that would accelerate time to market, increase automation and strengthen security across private and public clouds.

IHS Markit rolled out VMware vRealize Suite and VMware NSX to build a unified private cloud with automated, self‑service provisioning and micro‑segmentation. The deployment delivered much faster product delivery—what used to take weeks can now be in production in hours—along with greater agility, built‑in security, cleaner decommissioning of legacy infrastructure, and consistent controls extended into public cloud environments.
