A VMware Case Study
Forsyth County Schools, a fast‑growing K–12 district in Cumming, Georgia serving about 48,000 students and adding 1,600–1,800 students annually, needed to keep digital learning reliably available for a BYOT program with more than 80,000 daily device connections. Faced with the risk of local disasters, limited disaster recovery, and the need for a flexible, scalable platform to support virtual learning and rapid change, the district sought a resilient, cost‑effective infrastructure upgrade.
Partnering with Technology Integration Group, FCS upgraded to VMware vSphere and deployed an all‑flash vSAN stretched cluster across two sites (20 Dell EMC ReadyNodes), with vRealize monitoring and 400 VMware Horizon virtual desktops. The solution delivers near‑instant failover, increased capacity (including ~13 TB saved via deduplication), uninterrupted learning during outages or maintenance, easier rollout of new applications, and operational efficiency that removed the need to hire additional staff.
