For Over Five Years, VMware TAM Guides Strategy and Saves Money for HeidelbergCement AG

HeidelbergCement AG, a global leader in building materials headquartered in Heidelberg with around 62,000 employees and more than 3,000 production sites in ~60 countries, faced the twin pressures of driving sustainable, resource‑oriented growth and maintaining cost leadership while managing rapidly increasing IT complexity across Group and Country IT. The company needed secure, stable, scalable infrastructure and expert guidance to virtualise business‑critical applications and coordinate work across multiple vendors without losing sight of corporate targets.

To address this, HeidelbergCement engaged a dedicated VMware Technical Account Manager (TAM) to act as a trusted, on‑site advisor and single point of contact, complementing its deployment of VMware solutions (vSphere, vCenter, Site Recovery Manager, vRealize). The TAM helped virtualise SAP and other critical apps, streamlined vendor coordination, preserved a large pool of expertise, reduced internal resource use, and built long‑term trust—enabling the group to pursue cost savings and its strategic growth objectives.
