Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), a leading technical university in Tamil Nadu, needed to modernize its lab experience to support advanced programming that demands high graphics, compute and storage. Key challenges included giving lab administrators flexible, on‑demand provisioning, enabling students to access labs anytime and anywhere, ensuring strong isolation and security, and reducing costs for maintenance, licenses and hardware.

VIT deployed VMware Horizon and NSX to deliver virtual, on‑demand labs provisioned from a centralized datacenter. The solution improved compute performance through better load balancing, used micro‑segmentation to isolate and protect each lab, simplified license and hardware management, and delivered an enhanced, accessible learning experience that optimizes resources and helps attract top students.
