City Mart Stocks Up on Virtualization to Stay Ahead of Customer Demand

City Mart, Myanmar’s largest retail chain with over 180 branches and 8,000 employees, needed to modernize its IT to stay competitive as foreign retailers enter the market. Legacy desktop servers caused frequent downtime that disrupted inventory, supply-chain operations and financial reporting, limiting the retailer’s ability to scale and respond to customer demand.

Working with partner Access Spectrum, City Mart deployed VMware vCloud Suite (vSphere, vRealize, vCenter) and Workspace ONE to virtualize and centralize its infrastructure. The move delivered 24/7 system availability, faster provisioning, and quicker reports (finance reports cut from a day to about 30 minutes), while reducing capex by 30%, opex by 60% and improving operational efficiency by 90%, enabling better inventory control and faster rollout of products and promotions.
