A VMware Case Study
Bülent Ecevit University in Zonguldak, Turkey — a large public university serving roughly 30,000 students — faced aging servers and storage that limited data processing, performance, and manageability. Its legacy SAN-based setup ran about 60 virtual servers on eight physical hosts, creating capacity and lifecycle challenges that required a modern, more flexible infrastructure.
The university moved to a hyper-converged VMware solution (vSAN Stretch Cluster and vSphere), consolidating workloads onto six HPE ProLiant servers and unifying compute and storage under single-console management. The migration cut the physical footprint by about 25%, improved network and storage performance, simplified resource scaling, and created a modern, secure data center ready for future expansion such as desktop virtualization.
