Bringing the learning lab to student’s houses with VMware

IFRN (Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte) is a public education institution whose student body largely faces social vulnerability and cannot afford the high-end computers required for some courses. Students endured long commutes and hours waiting for lab access, creating a barrier to timely, equitable learning.

IFRN implemented VMware solutions — including vSphere, vSAN and Horizon — to virtualize labs and deliver state-of-the-art software to any device, anywhere. The virtual lab automation and mobility management enabled remote access, reduced travel and queues, and scaled lab availability from 100 students to a planned 1,000+ by the end of 2019.
