A VMware Case Study
Autopista Vespucio Norte (AVN) is a major highway concessionaire in Santiago, Chile, managing an 18‑mile urban corridor and focused on improving travel times, safety and urban development. Although AVN had used virtualization since 2008, its IT team faced a major challenge in renewing the platform by migrating a fleet of more than 50 servers to the then‑new VMware Virtual SAN (VSAN) while preserving continuous operations and minimizing risk.
AVN partnered with S&A Chile to deploy VMware vSphere 5.5 and VMware VSAN as the core of a fully virtualized infrastructure, using converged storage across server HDD/SSD to create a resilient high‑performance layer. The migration preserved operations throughout, delivered a 50% reduction in capital expenditures per application and a 60% reduction in operating expenses per application, increased control, scalability and availability, and set the organization on a path toward a planned private cloud.
