Case Study: Atea achieves production-safe NSX and vCloud modernization enabling disaster recovery and micro-segmentation with VMware Professional Services

Atea, a key VMware partner, needed to modernize its data center to support customer demands for security, agility and application continuity — moving from vCNS to NSX and upgrading vCloud/vSphere to enable disaster recovery and micro‑segmentation services. The challenge was to perform the upgrade in a production environment without disrupting 24/7 customer workloads. The project was scoped at 26 mandays but executed by VMware Professional Services with senior consultancy and project management.

The joint Atea/VMware team tested procedures in a lab, then upgraded vCloud and replaced vCNS with NSX in production while keeping customer services online. The work took 20 mandays, finished one week ahead of schedule, and came in under budget. Outcomes include a platform ready for vCloud Availability, new DR and migration services, advanced network configurations, and preserved customer satisfaction while enabling growth.
