ANZ Bank, one of Australia’s largest banks headquartered in Melbourne, faced rising IT consumerization: customers and employees increasingly expected simple, mobile-first experiences while the bank needed to keep enterprise-grade security. ANZ’s challenge was to make consumer-simple, enterprise‑secure tools and apps available on mobile devices so bankers could meet customers wherever they are.

ANZ deployed VMware Workspace ONE (powered by AirWatch) to manage 18,000 devices across 34 countries and used a VMware SDK to build 20+ custom mobile apps, iPad kiosks and digital-branch experiences. The rollout enabled bankers to give personalized, face-to-face and remote service, streamline back-end processes, boost commercial banker productivity and increase customer engagement and conversions, with plans to expand apps and BYOD support.
