Case Study: AeroData achieves 99.999% uptime and 50% cost reduction with VMware NSX and vSAN

A VMware Case Study

Preview of the AeroData Case Study

AeroData, Inc. improves customer agility and availability with cost-effective VMware NSX solution

AeroData, Inc. provides aircraft performance, weight-and-balance and load-planning services to the airline industry—supporting roughly 21,000 flights per day—and faced growing customer demand plus strict federal security requirements. Its legacy hardware-defined data centers were inflexible, created single points of failure, forced application-level availability workarounds, and generated management overhead that limited scalability and responsiveness.

AeroData moved to a software-defined data center using VMware NSX for network virtualization, vSAN for storage, plus WAN acceleration, intelligent DNS and centralized logging via vRealize Log Insight, with SPJ Solutions assisting the deployment. The modernization enabled active‑active operations across three sites, micro‑segmentation and centralized firewall policy management (reducing rules from ~2,000 to ~250), improved bandwidth utilization up to 80%, cut costs by at least 50% and achieved 99.999% application availability.
