VMware Help Hong Kong La Salle Primary School Succeed in Mobile Virtualization Teaching

La Salle Primary School, a Hong Kong primary with about 1,200 students, faced BYOD and budget pressures: varied student devices and OSes, software compatibility issues, and the need for centralized management without costly hardware refreshes. To solve this, the school partnered with VMware vSAN and deployed a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure using VMware Horizon 6 alongside vSphere and vSphere Data Protection.

Using VMware vSAN to centralize storage across 13 servers and VMware Horizon 6 for VDI, the vendor moved applications to a virtual platform so students and teachers can access identical desktops on Windows, macOS/iPad and Android devices. VMware vSAN helped cut hardware and storage demands, simplify IT support, enable full data recovery in about 15 minutes, and support campus-wide mobile learning—leading to reduced costs and reported significant improvements in student math performance.
