A VMware vSAN Case Study
Visiant Technologies, the infrastructure and cloud arm of the Visiant Group in Italy, needed to upgrade storage to meet strict CRM database requirements without large capital outlays or the high power consumption of a traditional SAN. To avoid major hardware purchases and overprovisioning, Visiant evaluated and selected VMware vSAN (VMware Virtual SAN) as a hyper‑converged, software‑defined storage alternative.
Using VMware vSAN, Visiant deployed a VM cluster with dual‑level SSD-based storage and policy‑based, VM-level provisioning that automated many storage tasks. The VMware vSAN implementation delivered drastically lower hardware investment and reduced power consumption, more granular vertical and horizontal scalability, less maintenance, and lower OpEx—enabling Visiant to support both complex projects for large customers and simpler services for SMBs.
