A VMware vSAN Case Study
UTSUE VALVE SERVICE Co., Ltd., a long‑standing provider of valve maintenance for power and industrial plants, faced fragmented, aging IT systems, rising data‑center costs, and growing operational overhead while preparing to expand into new business areas. After finding a cloud migration cost‑prohibitive, the company evaluated on‑premises options and selected VMware vSAN (together with VMware vSphere) to consolidate systems, reduce infrastructure footprint, and improve management and scalability.
UTSUE migrated all mission‑critical and information systems onto a vSAN‑based hyper‑converged infrastructure from VMware vSAN, adopting an all‑flash shared datastore and centralized management. The deployment cut hardware to a quarter of its previous size (a 75% hardware reduction), shrank two full racks to a half rack, consolidated servers to roughly 10 mission‑critical and 20 other servers, delivered much higher I/O and faster response, simplified operations (enabling two admins to focus on higher‑value work), and sped Oracle DB migrations via fast snapshot/restore — demonstrating clear cost, space, performance, and management gains from VMware vSAN.
