A VMware vSAN Case Study
TOIFL, a Vienna‑based textile care and leasing company, faced aging hardware, limited maintenance windows (no downtime during normal workdays), and slow disaster‑recovery and monitoring capabilities. To modernize infrastructure while supporting legacy systems and ensuring high availability, TOIFL chose VMware solutions—notably VMware vSAN alongside VMware vSphere—to deliver software‑defined storage, centralized management, and virtualization.
TOIFL’s internal IT team, with support from VMware, implemented VMware vSAN and vSphere, completing Phase 1 (hardware, implementation, testing, and migration) in seven months. The VMware vSAN solution centralized storage and automated routine tasks, enabled VM‑level SLAs and SSD‑backed performance, eliminated the need for costly hardware SANs and single points of failure, and—together with vSphere HA and vMotion—allowed maintenance without production downtime, improved disaster recovery options, and reduced operating costs.
