LÖSEV Virtualized its Servers Achieved Speed and Efficiency Gains

LÖSEV, the Foundation for Children with Leukemia in Ankara, faced operational strain from running its hospital IT on physical servers—difficulties with management, monitoring, updates, backups, performance and the need for continuous 24/7 service. To modernize and reduce costs while improving reliability, LÖSEV partnered with VMware vSAN and the broader VMware stack (vSphere, Horizon/VDI and VSAN) to virtualize servers, desktops and storage on a single end-to-end platform.

Using VMware vSAN-enabled VDI and vSphere/Horizon, LÖSEV deployed roughly 500 virtual desktops on thin clients, enabling updates for up to 500 users in under a minute, avoiding an estimated $400,000 PC spend, and cutting energy costs by about 146,000 TL per year (≈730,000 TL over five years). The VMware vSAN solution delivered faster, centralized management, lower total cost of ownership, improved uptime and secure remote access to clinical systems while reducing maintenance and support overhead.
