A VMware vSAN Case Study
Chambre des notaires du Québec, a Montreal-based professional association with 4,000 members, needed faster and easier provisioning of virtual desktops, simpler storage and infrastructure management for its small IT team, and improved data availability and scalability. The organization—already using VMware Horizon for VDI—selected VMware vSAN to address these pain points.
The Chambre replaced its IBM SAN with VMware vSAN, deploying two vSAN clusters (one dedicated to Horizon VDI) on HPE ProLiant Ready Nodes and adding vRealize Operations Insight for monitoring. VMware vSAN delivered dramatically faster VDI provisioning and improved user performance, simplified administration so staff with basic skills can manage storage, eliminated prior SAN misconfiguration issues, and saved about CA$40,000 versus upgrading the traditional SAN.
