VMware Tanzu Observability Helps Yammer Hit Global SLAs

Microsoft Yammer is an enterprise social network within Office 365 that connects employees across organizations. As Yammer rapidly grew and transitioned from a monolith to hundreds of microservices across multiple data centers, telemetry volumes exploded and the Data Engineering and Analytics (DEA) team needed a scalable, reliable observability platform to meet global SLAs and prevent costly outages.

Yammer adopted VMware Tanzu Observability, creating roughly 3,000 alerts and moving to metrics-driven, analytics-based alerting for faster, more reliable detection. The cloud-native solution scaled across geographies, shortened troubleshooting time, enforced pipeline checks that prevented buggy PRs from reaching production, made observability mandatory for all engineers, and improved SLA adherence and KPI reporting (including P99 latency) for stakeholders.
