Case Study: Yapı Kredi Bank achieves faster, more secure, and scalable digital banking with VMware Tanzu

A VMware Tanzu Case Study

Preview of the Yapı Kredi Bank Case Study

Digital transformation gives Yapı Kredi’s customers a better digital banking experience

Yapı Kredi, the third-largest private bank in Turkey, needed to modernize its legacy monolithic applications to stay competitive against fintech challengers, meet stricter regulations, and support rapidly growing digital usage—especially after COVID-19 drove a 20–25% spike in online traffic. The bank’s large IT organization faced slow release cycles, difficult updates, and the need for greater scalability, security, and developer agility.

Yapı Kredi migrated core systems to an on-prem VMware Tanzu Application Service platform running on Dell EMC VxRail, integrated with NSX, Concourse pipelines, and existing monitoring/tooling. By moving to microservices and an API-first model and forming product-aligned DevOps teams, the bank cut platform setup to 8–10 hours, enabled one-click deployments during business hours, achieved instant scaling for traffic surges, increased security, and improved customer experience while preserving prior investments.
