How CloudHealth Enables Thales DIS’ FinOps Strategy

Thales Digital Identity and Security (Thales DIS), a Paris‑based technology company providing IT and security services for government IoT, banking, mobile encryption and biometrics, moved many legacy systems to AWS but struggled to control and monitor rising cloud costs. Its Cloud Center of Excellence created a FinOps team but found native cloud tools inadequate for comprehensive visibility, cost allocation, and governance.

Thales DIS adopted CloudHealth by VMware to centralize cost visibility and implement a three‑pronged FinOps strategy—monitoring, optimizing and forecasting. CloudHealth delivered daily and month‑to‑date cost tracking, rightsizing and Reserved Instance/Savings Plan recommendations, tagging and alerting, and 13‑month forecasting; the result was tighter budget control, measurable compute savings, clearer accountability, and improved decision‑making across teams and leadership.
