A VMware SD-WAN Case Study
SF Cinema, the second-largest cinema chain in Thailand with 65 locations and more than 400 screens, faced severe revenue pressure from COVID-19 closures and growing competition from streaming services. Its legacy MPLS network was expensive, offered low bandwidth, and caused transaction and customer-experience problems during peak demand, so the company needed a way to preserve cash flow while maintaining reliable connectivity for ticketing, POS and online services.
Working with partner PROEN, SF Cinema replaced MPLS with broadband and cellular links managed by VMware SD-WAN and a VMware SASE orchestrator, using zero-touch Edge appliances for rapid deployment. The change cut operating costs by more than 65%, improved uptime and application performance during peaks, simplified branch management and expansion, and enabled better remote-work and pop-up sales capabilities; the company is now exploring VMware Secure Access to further secure and optimize remote access.
