Case Study: New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC) achieves 98.36% uptime and always-on store connectivity with VMware SD-WAN

A VMware SD-WAN Case Study

Preview of the New City Commercial Corporation Case Study

Retail giant NCCC Group simplifies networks to keep stores always connected

New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC) Group is a nearly 70‑year‑old retail company headquartered in Davao City with about 60 branches across Mindanao. Rugged terrain, fragmented telco coverage and multiple incompatible VPNs left stores struggling to access the ERP at headquarters, causing frequent outages (average uptime ~94.5%) that disrupted sales, inventory and customer service. The CIO challenged the team to raise uptime without significantly increasing operating expenses.

NCCC implemented VMware SD‑WAN by VeloCloud with dual internet subscriptions and optional 4G LTE, achieving fast POC deployment, Dynamic Multipath Optimization and centralized visibility via the SD‑WAN Orchestrator. Uptime rose to 98.36% (downtime cut from ~1 hour to 12 minutes daily), deployment costs were ~25% less than a pricier IP VPN option, and opex remained unchanged—resulting in more reliable store operations and customers able to use loyalty points reliably as NCCC targets 99.5% uptime.
