A VMware SD-WAN Case Study
Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS), a multi‑hospital health system based in Gainesville, Georgia, was struggling with mobile Workstations On Wheels (WOWs) that intermittently dropped off the network, forcing staff to reboot batteries multiple times a day. The outages—most acute in the busy emergency department—hurt clinician productivity and patient service, and IT was unable to find the root cause with existing tools.
By deploying VMware Edge Network Intelligence, NGHS gained per‑client and per‑AP visibility and correlated historical and real‑time data to pinpoint the issue as a faulty NIC model in specific WOW units. The problem was identified and resolved in days, restoring reliable WOW performance, eliminating disruptive reboots, improving clinician efficiency and patient care, and providing actionable data for the device manufacturer.
