Future-proofing the Network with SD-WAN

Stolt‑Nielsen, a London‑headquartered transportation and logistics company with about 2,200 employees across 40+ offices in 30+ countries, was constrained by an expensive, inflexible MPLS WAN that couldn’t meet new decentralized traffic patterns, rising bandwidth needs, or fast integration of acquisitions. The incumbent MPLS contract and tiered branch model created high costs, long provisioning lead times, and limited visibility, jeopardizing consistent access to critical apps like Office365 and Skype for Business.

Stolt‑Nielsen partnered with Videns IT Services to deploy VMware SD‑WAN (VeloCloud), migrating the WAN—including SD‑WAN Orchestrator, Cloud Gateways and Edge devices—and replacing MPLS with internet breakout and cloud security. The roll‑out cut provisioning from months to days, migrated 40+ sites in three months, delivered more bandwidth at lower cost, centralized management and visibility, reduced operational complexity, and produced a consistent, improved user experience while future‑proofing the network.
