EyeCare Partners, a St. Louis–based provider supporting optometry and ophthalmology practices across 450 sites in 14 states, outgrew its traditional MPLS WAN after rapid expansion. The legacy architecture drove high costs, long lead times for circuits, limited redundancy and difficult site deployments and management, so the company needed a more flexible, scalable networking approach.

Working with Meriplex, EyeCare Partners deployed VMware SD‑WAN with an appliance at each site (stateful firewall, dual circuits, Zscaler integration and segmented paths for voice, data and EMR). The solution aggregated bandwidth, enabled commodity broadband, provided centralized monitoring and simplified branch services—accelerating deployments, reducing complexity and costs, and improving redundancy and cloud application performance.
